TEINA MAMAORI COLLABORATES WITH JAMAICAN AND MAORI SUPERSTARS

Teina Mamaori returns with "Roots of Irie", featuring Conkarah and Brutha Rodz - a feel-good reggae record celebrating Māori roots, positive vibrations and the power of music to uplift. The single brings together three distinct voices across Aotearoa, the Pacific and Jamaica, united by a shared love of reggae and its ability to connect people.

For Teina, Roots of Irie is a declaration of love for his Māori identity and for the irie spirit that has always surrounded reggae music. Coming from a hard upbringing, Teina has seen first-hand how music can provide an escape, a source of strength and a positive outlet. The track reflects that experience while encouraging good energy, cultural pride and community uplift.

The collaboration developed organically after Teina sent the original track to producer DJ Twitch. With Teina and Brutha Rodz having previously shared stages - and Teina having featured on one of Rodz's tracks - the pair immediately felt Rodz would be a natural fit for the record.

DJ Twitch then reached out to friend and Jamaican reggae artist Conkarah. After hearing the track, Conkarah connected with the vibe and was keen to add his own contribution. All three artists recorded remotely, with TJ of TJ & Huri recording and engineering Teina's vocals.

Each artist wrote their own verse, with Teina also writing the chorus. DJ Twitch produced and executive produced the single and also handled the mix and mastering. The finished record is distributed by Sick Wit It Crew & Royalty Music Group.
